The King's Chamber
Resonance.

You have met this claim everywhere: the Great Pyramid is a lost harmonic technology, its granite King's Chamber tuned to sacred frequencies that heal, or power, or transcend. It is a near-perfect test case — because it splits, cleanly, into three layers: what's actually real, what's genuinely open, and what's overclaimed.

We don't debunk. We triangulate — and the whole thing turns on a calculation you can run yourself in an afternoon.

The mystery frequency
is just the room.

Take the honest core first. A granite room has acoustic resonances — every room does. For a rigid rectangular box of length $L$, width $W$, and height $H$, the resonant frequencies fall out of one formula, with $c \approx 343\text{ m/s}$ the speed of sound:

The King's Chamber is about 10.45 × 5.20 × 5.80 m of solid granite. Drop those in. The lowest mode — one half-wavelength along the length — is $\;f = c/2L \approx 16\text{ Hz}$, deep infrasound, below hearing.

Now the twist that makes this an investigation and not a dunk: that ≈16 Hz is approximately what the acoustic engineer Tom Danley actually measured in the chamber in the 1990s — low-frequency resonances present even in silence. So the headline "mystery frequency" is what freshman room acoustics predicts from the dimensions. No lost technology is required to explain the fact.

That is the whole discipline in one figure. The real layer is mundane and computable; drag the dimensions and watch the modes move. The kill-test was simple — predict the fundamental from $L$, then go measure — and someone ran it.

The resonances are real — and reproducible.

Signal. Archaeoacoustics is a legitimate, peer-reviewed field. Ancient sacred spaces often have striking measured resonance — the Ħal Saflieni Hypogeum in Malta rings near 110 Hz; at Chavín de Huántar, Stanford researchers found the architecture's resonance matches the conch trumpets the culture actually used.

Kill test. Predict the King's Chamber fundamental from its length, then measure it. Predicted ≈16 Hz; Danley measured 16–20 Hz. It survived.

Did the builders engineer it on purpose?

Signal. Some sites show effects almost too apt to be accident — Chavín's match between room and instrument is the strongest case for intentional acoustic design.

Unresolved. Whether builders designed these effects or simply noticed which chambers felt powerful and used them is genuinely undecided — the field itself says the debate on intentionality continues.

Kill test. Find acoustic tuning that tracks deliberate construction choices with no non-acoustic explanation. Not yet settled either way — which is exactly why it's worth the work.

"The chamber is tuned to the sacred 440 Hz."

Signal. The granite coffer really does ring when struck — musicians have recorded it near A ≈ 438 Hz.

Noise. A440 as "concert pitch" is a 20th-century convention (standardized mid-century). So "it matches modern tuning" is a manufactured coincidence — and the number is cherry-picked from a value that wasn't even 440.

Kill test. Is A440 ancient? No. The coincidence dissolves the moment you check the provenance of the standard.

no energy budget

"The Giza Power Plant generated free energy."

Signal. One real ingredient: the granite's quartz is genuinely piezoelectric — squeeze quartz and you get a voltage.

Noise. Inflated into a machine with no energy source, no output, and no budget that survives contact with physics. Piezoelectricity converts mechanical stress to charge; it invents no energy.

Kill test. Write the energy balance. There is no sustained mechanical input to convert — so the "power plant" has nothing to power it. Net output: zero.

Notice the sift: the real layer made a prediction and someone measured it; the open layer names a test not yet run; the overclaims fail on provenance and on physics. The pyramid isn't less astonishing for this — ancient acoustic awareness was real and sophisticated. The mystics were wrong about the mechanism and right about the mood.
